Lawless Lipstick Review & Swatches
Clean beauty is permeating the beauty industry and quickly becoming an important decision factor in consumers minds. As buyers become more savvy and interested in the origins of their products, differentiators such as cruelty-free, vegan, and a slew of others are becoming more and more relevant in product development. As proof, Sephora launched it’s Clean at Sephora Seal and category for clean beauty this past year, offering brands that meet a long list of requirements a spotlight on their website and in-store. One of the most popular upcoming makeup brands in this category is Lawless, started by Annie Lawless, one of the founders of Suja Juice.
About a year ago, I bought one of their lipsticks because I was intrigued by their mission of clean products and wanted to see if they held up to the standard I expect from a liquid matte lipstick. I’ve worn these several times now and keep coming back to them. While they don’t last as long as I would like, they are super comfortable to wear. It’s not super liquid like many liquid mattes, but rather thick in consistency even though it feels very lightweight when you put it on. They definitely don’t dry out my lips.
The three shades I’ve invested in thus far are Jake, Leo and George - all the shades are named after special men in Annie’s life. I have yet to find another shade like Jake. It’s a perfect balance between pink and lilac that I love to wear when I want a more purple look, but don’t want a full purple lip. I constantly get compliments on it whenever I wear it.
The applicator makes it pretty easy to apply, although I really wish they would come out with some lip liners! The matte packaging is very chic and beautiful and I’ve been dying to try out their Flawless Finish Foundation and Loose Setting Powder, their latest product launches.
Overall, I would totally rebuy these. They’re super chic and I love how they don’t have literally any ingredient that might be bad for you. Every shade is so gorgeous and I think they have a great range of nudes, pinks and reds, which is typically what I sway towards. If you’ve tried anything out from them let me know in the comments!
