My Mardi Gras Top Shelf
New Orleans Mardi Gras is not for the faint of heart. In addition to being Louisiana's best excuse to not have work or school, it's the biggest party holiday filled with extravagant balls, parades, and enough booze to fill the Mississippi River. I'll be staying in New Orleans next Saturday and Sunday for the festivities with friends, and have been narrowing down how to achieve the perfect practical, long-lasting glam needed for Mardi Gras with the perfect green, gold and purple accents.
Saturday we have more laid-back plans, hitting up a crawfish boil and then off to the bars afterwards. To beat the traffic and the road blocks we'll be waking up before dawn to get ready and drive down to Nola, so the name of the game will be makeup that sticks. I'll be starting off my routine with J.One Jelly Pack as my primer, topped off with Too Faced Hangover 3-in-1 Replenishing Primer & Setting Spray for extra staying power. I'll also be setting my face with this at the very end of my routine. I'll then apply Urban Decay Naked Skin Color Corrector in Peach under my eyes to cover dark circles. Both days I'll be using Clinique Superbalanced Silk Makeup SPF 15 in 06 Silk Cream as my foundation. It's a radiant full coverage and it's also the only foundation I currently own that matches my skin tone when I use self-tanner. I'll then use my Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick in Porcelain and Clinique Chubby Stick Scultping Contour to contour my cheekbones and under my eyes. I'll set that with my Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder and top my cheekbones, temples, nose and cupids bow with Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Poured Crème in Champagne Pop. I'll then diffuse some Becca Sunlit Bronzer in Bronzed Bondi around my face for a bronzed glowy effect and might top my cheekbones with Kylie Cosmetics Kylighter in Chocolate Cherry to really glow. I'll use Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in Blonde for my eyebrows, and this will finish up my face makeup for the weekend.
Saturday I'm wearing a green sleeveless sweater with jeans so I'll be pulling that into my eye look as well. Before applying pigment, I'll use my Smashbox 24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer - they seriously make the best primers and my eyeshadow will stay all day because of this. I'll be using my Becca Ombre Rouge Eye Palette topped with L'Oréal Paris Infallible Eye Shadow in 335 Golden Emerald on the lid and lined with Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Liquid Eyeliner in Forest Sparkle. For my eyelashes, both days I'll be priming with Benefit They're Real Tinted Lash Primer, topped with Marc Jacobs Beauty Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara and Bobbi Brown Eye Opening Mascara. I'll use my new favorite Marc Jacobs Beauty Feather Noir Ultra-Skinny Lash Discovering Mascara to define my lower lashes.
For Sunday I'm going for a more golden purple look, so my only change will be with my eyes. Though mascara will stay the same, I'll be using the new Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow in Gypsy on the lid and blending it out with Stila Shimmer & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Cloud. I'll line that with Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Mad Max Brown to finish off the look. For lips I'll be priming with Glamglow Plumprageous Matte Lip Treatment and topping with either Pat McGrath Labs LiquiLUST 007 in Divine Nude or Kylie Cosmetics Posie K Lip Kit. Spritz some Maison Margiela Replica Fragrance in Jazz Club and you're ready to hit the parades.
It's going to be such a fun weekend and I consider myself so blessed to be able to party with friends for the past four years at Mardi Gras. Perks of going to LSU! Leave me some of your long-lasting glam favorites in the comments and laissez les bons temps rouler!
