Find Your Perfect Valentine's Day Lip
Prepping for Valentine's Day is not a drill. No matter your plans, the name of the game is strategic. Nobody wants dry chapped lips on Valentine's Day or lipstick that comes off during your first sip of wine. Whether you've got a date, going out for Galentine's Day, or opting for a relaxing night in with your significant other, regardless of the kind of look you're going for everyone wants something long-lasting and hydrating. Below are my favorite picks for the perfect pout this holiday, no matter your style.
For a Soft, Natural Flush
M.A.C Matte Lipstick in Velvet Teddy, M.A.C $17.50 - this is such a beautiful deep beige that flatters so many skin tones and has great staying power. A M.A.C cult classic.
BareMinerals GEN NUDE Matte Liquid Lipcolor in Wink, Sephora $19 - the most buttery creamy liquid matte lipstick you'll ever use and this is such a great lighter nude.
Pat McGrath Labs LiquiLUST 007 in Divine Nude, Sephora $38 - my first ever Pat McGrath Labs purchase and this did not disappoint. It will legit stay on the entire day, even through meals, with minimal rub off. The formula is not drying at all and the pointed applicator helps to achieve the perfect line without a lip liner.
Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Patina, Sephora $22 - this formula is a great dupe for Kylie Cosmetics formulas, its got a buttery soft feel and stays on all day.
Estée Lauder Kissable LipShine in Hollywood Kiss - I'm not sure if they still make this formula, but if they do I highly recommend snatching it up. It gives such a glowy, hydrated look for a super kissable pout.
Fresh Beauty Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15 in Sugar Rosé Tinted, Sephora $24 - these Sugar lip treatments should honestly be a staple in anyone's collection. They last forever, they're super hydrating, and the formula is very buildable. This is a perfect color for a little flush on your lips without completely looking like you have a ton of makeup on.
Too Faced Melted Liquified Longwear Lipstick in Chihuahua, Sephora $21 - I love the soft applicator of this liquid lipstick and the color is so longlasting. Chihuahua is a great mauvey pink for a variety of skin tones.
Bobbi Brown Lipstick in Rose, Sephora $29 - last year I invested in one of the Bobbi Brown vaults and now am sold on their lipsticks. They are so soft and hydrating and I use this Rose color for a dusty rose color that's not much different from my natural lip color. Great for use at work or out on a date.
Kylie Cosmetics Matte Lip Kit in Koko K, Kylie Cosmetics $29 - these formulas are amazing and Koko K is one of my favorite pink tones. I'm not huge on matte lips but these honestly convert me every time. Koko K is one of my Kylie staples.
Kylie Cosmetics Matte Lip Kit in Posie K, Kylie Cosmetics $29 - A darker pink than Koko K, this is my most used color from her collection. I was recently gifted the Valentine's Day bundle with the new gloss and velvet formulas from a friend, and cannot wait to test them out. This is my ride or die.
For a Classic Red
Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Marc Crème Lipstick in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Sephora $30 - beautiful packaging, even prettier finish. In between a rose and a red, this is a great color for someone who wants a darker lip, without the flashiness of a red lip.
Stila Lip & Cheek Stain in Cherry Crush - you can find this for sale on select websites, but it's not really in circulation anymore. I picked it up at Nordstrom Rack and it is my favorite for a toned down red lip. Top it off with Glossier Balm Dotcom in Cherry and it's literally to die for.
Glossier Balm Dotcom in Cherry, Glossier $12 - I can't rave about this stuff enough. It smells like cherry and gives the perfect red tint to your lips while keeping them super hydrated. It will wear off throughout the night, but it won't give you uneven color on your lips when it does like many lipsticks do. I am obsessed with this stuff.
Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in F-Bomb, Sephora $17 - this is a great bright red that no one will be able to miss. It's long lasting and doesn't dry out your lips. Great for making a statement.
Kylie Cosmetics Gloss in Cherry Pie, Kylie Cosmetics $15 - this gloss is crazy pigmented, it's sticky but stays and will absolutely make a statement.
Kylie Cosmetics Gloss in Naughty, Kylie Cosmetics $15 - slightly less of a punchy color than the Cherry Pie color, same finish and payoff.
Make Up Forever Artist Rouge Lipstick in M401 Hot Red, Sephora $22 - another statement maker. Will last all night and gives you that old Hollywood glam feeling.
Bobbi Brown Lipstick in Red, Nordstrom $29 - another classic Bobbi Brown color. Hydrating, and looks so timeless.
For a Sultry Vampy Plum
Clinique Pop Oil Lip & Cheek Stain in Rose Glow, Clinique $18.50 - this is a great subtle berry color if you're looking to go dark but don't want to be wearing too much makeup. Check out my whole review on it at my January Favorites post.
M.A.C Satin Lipstick in Cyber, M.A.C $17.50 - great for darker or bronzed skin tones, this deep plum will give you the ultimate vamp look while making at statement at the same time.
Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Fig, Sephora $21 - a great plummy mauve, this will give you a subtle darkness without having to commit to going full purple.
Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick in Witchy, Sephora $21 - this is definitely deeper than Fig, with more burgandy. Think red wine on your lips. Perfect for a darker Valentine's Day look.
Kylie Cosmetics Matte Lip Kit in Kourt K, Kylie Cosmetics $29 - probably one of my darkest lipsticks I own besides M.A.C Cyber, this is a deep plum that will not leave your lips all night. Don't be afraid to go dark, this color actually looks good on so many different skin tones.
